New members are made very welcome. If you're thinking of joining the Society, we'd love to have you on board. Membership fees are £15 per annum or £20 for a couple living at the same address, and £6 youth membership (up to age 25). Please contact our Membership Secretary at [email protected] and we will be pleased to respond. Membership entitles you to receipt of our twice-yearly newsletter 'Comet', only available to members, exclusive access to the features and information contained in the Members' Area on this website (details below), reduced rates at events, e-bulletins, invitation to our annual Christmas lunch, and the chance to get to know people with deep knowledge of Norman Nicholson's work and, in some cases, personal knowledge of the man himself.
NB: Some members have reported that their bank won't recognise our account as genuine when they try to pay subscriptions online. We apologise for this and do not understand why this should happen, although it seems to be to do with our account being held at a Building Society (the Cumberland, our bankers for many years). We understand that using our IBAN number resolves the problem: GB70 CMBS 1652 2154 2092 99.

Exclusive to Society members
The site contains an area dedicated exclusively to members of the Society. This area adds to the value that you receive as members. When launched at the 2019 AGM it included the three most recent editions of Comet, minutes of AGMs, and a variety of interesting and/or entertaining items such as Nicholson's favourite recipe, his penchant for a good malt whisky, and an audio interview with lifelong Millom resident Dot Richardson, sharing her personal recollections of Nicholson. There was also a detailed heritage report on Nicholson's house, compiled for the Society by Marion Barter Associates with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, as part of our 'Resilient Heritage' project in 2017/18. More features are added from time to time.
